With website traffic on the rise, the question "What is All About Jazz?" is finding its way to my inbox with greater frequency. For long-time readers, the answer is self-evident. For all others, here's the primer...
The Big Picture
Technically innovative and with a global perspective, All About Jazz is a social enterprise (see mission) that combines elements of a magazine, a blog and an encyclopediaall integrated with a massive database for the sole purpose of raising the awareness of jazz music online.
Sounds good... tell me more! All About Jazz is an active community comprised of musicians, writers, fans, presenters, students and other industry professionals. It's where folks exchange ideas, get gigs, spread the word... It's also a technical platform that supports the jazz industry; musicians and presenters in particular.
From the past to the present
With a background in technology and interface design, I decided to combine my love of jazz music with my interest in the internet and launched All About Jazz back in 1995. It is now presented by an international staff of volunteers and reaches over 800,000 unique visitors worldwide.

Nothing to sell? You can still help.

All About Jazz has been a pillar of jazz since 1995, championing it as an art form and, more importantly, supporting the musicians who create it. Our enduring commitment has made "AAJ" one of the most culturally important websites of its kind, read by hundreds of thousands of fans, musicians and industry figures every month.
You Can Help
To expand our coverage even further and develop new means to foster jazz discovery and connectivity we need your help. You can become a sustaining member for a modest $20 and in return, we'll immediately hide those pesky ads plus provide access to future articles for a full year. This winning combination will vastly improve your AAJ experience and allow us to vigorously build on the pioneering work we first started in 1995.
