Una delle migliori produzioni jazzistiche di quest'anno viene dall'Italia. Ne è protagonista il trombonista Beppe Di Benedetto, leader di un quintetto dagli equilibri perfetti. Le otto tracce proposte sprigionano un ammaliante percorso espressivo segnato dalla grande fantasia ritmica e dinamica. Composto da eccellenti musicisti, il quintetto dà vita ad una sonorità vibrante, nel rivisitare con grande raffinatezza armonica i più efficaci canoni del linguaggio mainstream.

Grazie ad uno sfavillante tappeto timbrico oscillante tra suoni gravi e alti, i segmenti melodici si dipanano con sapiente dinamismo per esaltare il colore caldo e scuro del trombone. Con souplesse la musica scorre con un invidiabile magnetismo che riporta l'ascoltatore nelle pieghe più nascoste dell'alchemia jazzistica.

Provenienti da musicisti di vaglia, le composizioni originali trasfigurano sapientemente i canoni, rivisitati dall'alto di una personalità musicale estremamente complessa e raffinata. I sontuosi arrangiamenti disegnano un mobile tappeto sonoro senza la minima dissipazione, per una efficace distribuzione degli assoli.
