The jazz duo allows a vocalist to communicate with her audience more completely than any other format, since you get the pure essence of her voice along with just enough accompaniment to matter. This works quite well with a talented singer such as Dominique Eade, one of the best that jazz has to offer. She's sincere in her approach to this program, making the most of every phrase. Her superb vocal flexibility shows up on each track as she reaches deep inside and delivers the message with authority. What a combination she provides on Open: superb musicianship along with sincere communication.

Eade has selected four established songs to go with her lovely originals. "Home opens the program with a delicate nature that lets singer and pianist spin an enticing web. Their allure draws you nearer and nearer, pumping life into the song magically. Cy Coleman's "You Fascinate Me allows them to swing lightly with a leisurely stroll, while "In My Secret Life reaches out with a solemn gospel message.

The ever-popular "Never Let Me Go gets a unique facelift, as Eade takes this one slowly with passion. Her treatment gives this old chestnut new meaning.

The singer's original songs open doors to her heart, as she sings with the kind of topical variety that fills our world. They're like letters to a friend that come accompanied by voice and piano. Delicate, personal, and filled with on-target, emotional hits, Eade's program reflects well on the duo's natural affinity by releasing their joy comfortably.
