News Service Upgrade

We recently retooled our News Center and news distribution service, making it easier for you to get the word out about your clients. With a new submission form, additional news categories to choose from, auto-compete options and better integration with the website, the AAJ news service should be the first place you go to post jazz news. We achieve similar results as PRWeb, but unlike PRWeb, we're 100% free.

If you have an RSS/XML feed for your news, please update your company listing at AAJ with your RSS location, then notify us. We'll read your feed and post your announcements for you.

So take advantage of our reach and our Google Page Rank (both tops in jazz), and post your press releases and important announcements to the All About Jazz News Center.

Massive Monday!

Monday has consistently ranked as our top traffic day—once eclipsing 100,000 readers. As a result, we schedule our interviews at the top of the week. We typically run interviews on Monday and Tuesday, and sometimes Wednesday. Our goal is to leverage our entire suite of promotional assets for a Monday interview and when we're featuring your client, we'd like to ask for your cooperation in helping us secure the necessary assets to make the biggest splash possible.

In addition to an interview, we can publish a CD review, feature photos (one as a photo of the day), feature an MP3 download, feature a video, update the musician's profile and post a news announcement. If possible, we try to coordinate a CD giveaway contest (which runs for 30 days) and we'll soon allow musicians to share an iTunes playlist with our readers. You can review our current list of opportunities on our assets page.

More Options

Please pass this list of free opportunities along to your musician clients:

  • Take Five Self-Directed Q&A: Answer a dozen questions and we'll publish the answers as an article and feature it;

  • MP3 Download of the Day: Typically generates 2,000 downloads in two weeks. The SF Jazz Collective download generated 1,800 downloads in seven days;

  • Video of the Day;

  • Musician Profiles: Updated profiles generate the most interest and the most referral traffic from AAJ;

  • Contest Giveaways: Advertisers receive priority service, but we'll consider your contest proposal when our schedule allows. Fans enter the contest by becoming a follower of the musician's profile, which is retained for notifications of future releases, tour dates and more;

  • News Announcement: Leverage our Google page rank and traffic reach to circulate your news;

  • Photo Gallery: the gallery is one of the most trafficked sections at AAJ. Use it to raise the awareness of your client by uploading publicity photos;

  • Calendar of Events: we present a local calendar on every page, on our calendar page, on a musician's profile page and on a venue/festival listing page. Soon, dates will appear in AAJ's calendar app.

A musician profile connects related articles, news, videos, MP3 downloads, a bio, photos, a calendar, teaching information, booking information, press quotes, and more. Please encourage your clients to create and update their profile. AAJ musician profiles are a little like Wikipedia in that several individuals can maintain one, so if you need access to your client's profile, simply request it from their profile page by clicking the REQUEST PROFILE ACCESS link under the CONNECT tab in the right column. If your client doesn't have a profile page, then create one here.

Your Company's Profile at AAJ

Make sure your company's information at AAJ is accurate and complete. You can add your Facebook and Twitter links, your RSS feed location, list your clients, provide company information, and we'll append your news announcements to the bottom of your profile.

Citing All About Jazz; Help Spread the Word

If you cite All About Jazz, please attribute the quote to "[Author Name], All About Jazz" or "[Author Name], AllAboutJazz.com" or simply "AllAboutJazz.com." Please do not refer to us as AAJ.com as that website is not owned or operated by All About Jazz.

15 Years and Going Strong!

All About Jazz is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a new look and new features. We've brought Bill King on board as the Photo Gallery Editor, and we released several new musician-only services. We're developing technical solutions for the industry and we're partnering with forward-minded companies like EchoNest, ThrillCall, Zoomino, a revamped AOL Music and others.

We are very excited to continue to present you with new media solutions, modern approaches, and expand our award-winning platform. To that end we have decided to cease publishing and part ways with the few remaining AAJ newspapers. Through the years, some of the newspapers created brand confusion in their respective markets for both advertisers and consumers, which has ultimately obstructed the website's growth. By agreement, the Los Angeles paper will change its name with their next issue, however the New York paper hasn't yet fully cooperated. Therefore, we apologize in advance if there is any continued confusion.

You should know that we remain committed to resolving this issue shortly. I proudly created and launched AAJ back in 1995, and I published the first AAJ newspaper in Philadelphia, in 2002. To be clear, any print publication that continues to use the All About Jazz name and trademarks, is using them without permission and is not affiliated with our company.

In case you haven't updated your records, AAJ HQ's new address is:

All About Jazz

1693 Meadow Glen Drive

Lansdale, PA 19446

U.S.A.

We'll be back in touch when we have more news to share. Until then...

All the best,

Michael Ricci Founder/Publisher, All About Jazz
