Tuck and Patti: Paradise Found
ByTuck and Patti, guitar and vocal duo as well as husband and wife, offer up another helping of positive, optimistic musical brilliance on Paradise Found. I think they found paradise about twenty years ago, when they first began performing together. They both possess considerable chops, always utilized in exquisite taste and in perfect tandem.
This time around, they occasionally supplement their duets with other instruments, such as soprano sax and percussion on the opening tune "Lembrancas." Two cover tunes, El DeBarges "All This Love" and Lieber/Stollers "Dance With Me" get the full band treatment, with Ricky Peterson on keyboards, Paul Peterson on bass, Michael Bland on drums, and The Blenders (one of my favorite a cappella quartets) on background vocals.
There are lots of great tunes here, including Minnie Ripertons "Adventures in Paradise," a new set of lyrics for Clifford Browns classic "Joy Spring" called "When Were Alone," and Al Greens "Lets Stay Together." Patti contributes several fine originals as well. (Windham Hill 11336)
