My Jazz Story
I love jazz because of its quality to set me afloat on realms of dreaming.
I was first exposed to jazz at the age of 16 being associated with the jazz movement in Romania and the club administration and management in Timisoara, my hometown. My first musical encounter were in the area of what we call today classical jazz: Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, Charlie Parker, Miles Davies, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk.
I met Nils Petter Molvaer, Avishai Cohen, Stian Westerhus, Tord Gustavsen, Sidsel Endresen, Trilok Gurtu, Mathias Eich, Thomas Stronen, and Alexander Balanescu
The best show I ever attended was Nils Petter Molvaer, Stian Westerhus, Erland Dahlen, Baboon Moon in Wuerzburg, Germany
The first jazz record I bought was Miles David, SIESTA
My advice to new listeners: Listen to the the Masters first!
Improvisation frees the spirit and unites the hearts. Jazz is freedom!
