About Me

As well as being a music photojournalist, I play drums, rock and creative jazz. I started out as a young kid gigging in the Seattle punk scene and playing psychedelic/experimental rock with the bands Quantum and The Opening around 1980, and I did a lot of jamming and gigs with musicians around the Seattle area as a teenager, including an after hours jam session with the late Tom Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Quantum stayed together, and in the early 1990s changed our name to Power Source until we split up in 1995, marking a 15-year run as a band. My creative jazz trio's CD, “Colored Houses,” is getting good reviews and radio play internationally, and my recently released avant rock/avant jazz CD with guitarist Chris Pugh entitled “One Hundred Years Of Abstraction” is getting good reviews and radio play internationally as well. My most recent CD is the long awaited sophomore release with improvised jazz group The Acoustic Reign Project entitled “Arc” that features Heart's Roger Fisher and members of the Northwest and East Coast US creative music scenes. I have also recorded with the space rock collective Spirits Burning And Bridget Wishart for their release “Make Believe It Real.” Currently, I am performing with the progressive free-form psychedelic rock group Flame Tree that is working on a recording project with Hawkwind and Inner City Unit saxophonist Nik Turner, and playing drums with the psychedelic rock band Spectral Waves.
