Bob Patterson

Bob Patterson is the founder and publisher of Jazz Guitar Online.

About Me

Bob has been playing guitar for more than 30 years. He earned his Masters in jazz studies from Indiana University in 1994. Bob's teaching experience ranges from almost 20 years of private teaching on the guitar to times spent as Assistant Professor at the University of Louisiana and jazz camps at the University of Wisconsin-Indianhead. He is also sought after as a clinician, having done clinics thoughout the Midwest and South. Bob is also freelance producer for various jazz and commercial projects.

Bob has played in the following jazz groups: Jazz Fables, Dallas Jazz Orchestra, David Baker Ensemble, Dominic Spera Ensemble, Four Corners, ZOE, Base 5, King 'Tet, and the Mike Moore Quintet. Bob has also backed The Shirelles, Vic Damone, Diahann Carroll, Patti Page, The Lettermen, The McGuire Sisters, The Platters, Mary Hart, Rich Little, Frankie Laine, Susan Anton, Jim Nabors and many others.

Bob's premiere CD release Nuances is available now and can be heard on the air in the following radio stations: WFHB and WFIU (Bloomington, IN), WTPI (Indianapolis, IN), WCLK (Atlanta), KCMW (Kansas City) and WUCF (Orlando, FL). The Bob Patterson Trio can be seen in various spots around Florida. “Jazz Guitar Soloing”, Bob's text on jazz playing is now available nationwide from Hal Leonard Publications or online.
